Ask this one question daily for greater peace.
A reminder that stillness is always one breath away ... even in a world that keeps you chasing.
When I awake in the morning …
I ask my mind
Where would you like to run to today
This question begins the dream for the day
The illusion
Running
Running
The mind goes
Let’s run to the phone
Scroll
First thing in the morning
Who messaged you
Did you forget something yesterday
Then it runs again
Who do I need to become today
What tasks must I complete to be worthy
What do I need to accomplish
Then again
What must I eat
What routine must I follow
What video should I play while I prepare my tea
I have so much work
Should I buy another audiobook
Another book
A mentor
A course
Why haven’t I made it yet
How do I make more money today
If I don’t reply will they be annoyed
Did my accounts grow yesterday
Followers
Likes
Did they like the post
I’m not working enough
Will all my work get done
I have training tonight
How can I improve
It loves to run
The mind’s favourite hobby
Run
Run
Run
Because here is never enough
This moment is never enough to satisfy it
It needs to go here
Be there
Consume this
Eat that
Watch this
Become that
Then
The curtains fall
One conscious breath
Then another
And another
I realise
Who is aware that the mind is running
In that moment
This moment
I remember
I am beyond the running
The noise doesn’t disappear
The running doesn’t stop
But
I am free
Free to watch
To witness
To smile at the funny games of the mind
The mind that replays old trauma
Thinks it’s never enough
Wants to consume everything
But is never full
I simply watch
Observe
Not cling
And in these moments
This moment
I hear what my ancestors have been whispering into my soul
Since the beginning of time
Wake up
You are the eternal watcher
Eternal love
Illuminating reality
You are life itself
So
Why not ask
In bliss
In joy
In compassion
In humour
Mind …
Where would you like to run to now?
Because I’ll remain here:
To watch.
To breathe.
To be.
In peace.
If this opened something in you.
