In this episode of the Modern Monk Podcast, I speak on something I’ve been sitting with deeply in my recent meditations:
Death.
Not the idea of it… but the feeling of it.
The quiet urgency it creates.
The discomfort it brings.
And the strange clarity that follows when you finally stop looking away.
Lately, I’ve been meditating on death as part of my Buddhist studies and I’ll be honest… it hasn’t been peaceful. It’s been raw. At times, even terrifying. But there’s a reason monks meditate in graveyards. There’s a reason it keeps showing up in every tradition that seeks truth.
Because when you confront death, you also confront time.
And that’s what this voice note is about … the urgency to express your deepest gifts now. Not later. Not when it’s perfect. Not when you feel ready.
Now.
I’ve had people close to me pass away recently. It changes you.
It reminds you that your message, your work, your purpose — none of it is guaranteed tomorrow.
If you’ve been holding back parts of yourself…
If you’ve been waiting for permission to start…
If you feel the weight of time pressing down and don’t know what to do with it…
This one’s for you.
Let’s walk this together.
If This Reflection Moved You…
Would you consider restacking or sharing it with someone on the path?
It helps others find this work and keeps me writing slow, honest pieces like this.
